Basketball: GHS to host first-ever basketball showcase

GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville basketball program will hold its first-ever Chicken City Classic on Monday and Tuesday, a basketball showcase featuring a combination of 13 boys and girls teams.

"We are excited about putting a lot of great teams on the court at Gainesville," Gainesville AD Adam Lindsey said. "Along with Gainesville, teams from outside our area will make up the field."

Eight boys teams, including Gainesville, Chapel Hill, Westminster, Grace Christian, MLK, Forsyth Central, South Forsyth, Cherokee Bluff and Denmark, will play in the round-robin-like event. 

On the girls' side, Gainesville, Cherokee Bluff, Therrell, Forsyth Central and South Forsyth will play each other in the two-day showcase. 

"There will be a lot of talent on the floor," Lindsey said. "It is going to be a great couple of days of basketball in one of the best venues in the state to watch basketball."

SCHEDULE FOR MONDAY, NOV. 25
Westminster boys vs. Grace Christian, 1 p.m.
MLK boys vs. Forsyth Central, 2:30 p.m.
Cherokee Bluff girls vs. South Forsyth, 4 p.m.
Cherokee Bluff boys vs. South Forsyth, 5:30 p.m.
Gainesville girls vs. Therrell, 7 p.m.
Gainesville boys vs. Denmark, 8:30 p.m.

Chapel Hill boys vs. Denmark, 2:30 p.m.
