Only three area teams are left standing after Week 2 of the Georgia High School Association playoffs.

Buford, Jefferson and Rabun all survived the second round of the playoffs on Friday.

Buford continued its dominance with an impressive 34-6 win over Ware County in Waycross in Class 5A action.

In Class 3A, Jefferson used its punishing ground game to run over Appling County at Memorial Stadium. The Dragons pounded out 390 yards on the ground behind QB Colby Clark, who finished with 126 yards and four touchdowns. The turnover bug hit Dawson County in a 42-9 loss to Jenkins for in Savannah.

However, North Hall could not get past Crisp County in a 41-3 lopsided loss in Cordele.

In Class 2A, Rabun County advanced to the quarterfinals while Union County fell in a heartbreaker. The Wildcats rolled to a 34-14 victory over Toombs County at Frank Snyder Stadium. Meanwhile, one week after notching their first-ever playoff win, the Panthers lost a close one to Metter, 14-7.

And in Class A-Public, Commerce led early but couldn't hold on in Lincolnton, falling 21-17.
