ACWORTH — Allatoona took advantage of everything Gainesville gave them in a 49-7 rout Friday night in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Gainesville (5-6, No. 3 seed Region 8-6A) turned the ball over three times and the Buccaneers (8-2-1 No. 2 seed Region 6-6A) cashed in all three for touchdowns to blow open the game in the second quarter, 28-0.
The Buccaneers rushed for 206 yards and passed for another 112 while holding Gainesville to just 122 total yards.
Allatoona also shut down just about everything Gainesville tried to do, including runningbacks JD Brooks and Dez Brown. The duo only tallied 11 combined carries for 14 yards.
Gionni Williams finished with six carries for 35 yards and the Red Elephants only score, a 16-yard run with 3:27 to go in the third quarter. He also was 7-of-13 passing for 42 yards.
