Boys basketball: West Hall, North Hall take opening wins; Branch falls to Oconee County

FLOWERY BRANCH — Sawyer Passmore poured in 30 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead West Hall to a 76-53 win over Lanier Christian Thursday night.

Quincy Holcomb added 11 points, Chase Reed 10 points, Canann Koger 7 points, and Braden Simms 6 points to go along with 5 assists for the Spartans (1-0).

Stephen Clark had 16 points to lead the Lightning (0-1). Thomas Avery had 10 points for LCA.

 

NORTH HALL BOYS 44
JACKSON COUNTY 40

The Trojans opened their season with a win as well holding of the Panthers ate home on Thursday.

Freshman Sam Gailey paced North Hall (1-0) with 10 points. Ty Smith added 7 for the Trojans.

Jackson County was led by Kaleb Clinton with a game-high 26 points.

North Hall will be back in action on Tuesday traveling to Habersham Central.

 

OCONEE COUNTY BOYS 64
FLOWERY BANCH 43

The Falcons dropped to 0-2 after a loss on the road Thursday.

The Warriors outscored the Branch in every quarter but led just 14-9 after the first quarter and 27-19 at halftime. Oconee County blew the game open with a 20-13 third quarter for a 47-32 advantage.

Judson Burney led Flowery Branch with 19 points. Trevor Gurske added 9 points for the Falcons.

Oconee County's Patrick Gattiker poured in 21 points, 12 in the fourth quarter, to lead all scorers.
