Gainesville's Gateway Domestic Violence Center getting renewed Justice Dept. grant totaling $350K

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

Gainesville's Gateway Domestic Violence Center has been approved for a renewal of a three-year U.S. Department of Justice grant totaling $350,000.

"We did receive a $350,000 renewal of our transitional housing grant," Gateway Executive Director Jessica Butler said.  "The award is to be spent over a three-year period from October 2019 - September 2022. That's $350,000 total for the three years, not $350,000 per year."

This is the agency's fourth award from D.O.J.'s Office of Violence Against Women and the money funds the operations of Gateway's ten transitional apartments for domestic violence survivors from Hall County who are moving out of Gateway's short-term emergency shelter.
