COMMERCE — Jackson County snapped a six-game losing streak with a 17-0 win over rival East jackson Friday night in both teams’ season and Region 8-3A finales.
It was a tight affair most of the way as the Panthers (3-7, 1-5 Region 8-3A) led just 2-0 at halftime. That score came after East Jackson (3-7, 0-6 Region 8-3A) stuffed Jackson County on a fourth-and-goal and then recorded a safety on the next Eagles drive.
The score would stay that way until Tyler Wester and Micah Swift scored a pair of third quarter touchdowns to extend the lead.
The Panthers defense took it from there notching its third shutout of the season.
Both teams had been eliminated from postseason play two weeks ago.
