Buford man identified as victim of I-85 pedestrian accident

A 56-year-old Buford man has been identified as the victim of an early morning pedestrian accident Thursday, Nov. 7 on I-85 in Gwinnett County. 

The Gwinnett County Police Department said the accident that killed Ronald Brown occurred around 4:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate. 

Investigators said Ronald Brown exited a vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder of I-85 southbound near Boggs Road and began walking across multiple lanes of traffic. 

"As Brown entered into the third lane, he was struck by a yellow Toyota RAV4," read a statement from the police department. "Brown died on scene as a result of his injuries sustained from the crash."

Police said the driver of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

The said they are unsure why Brown entered the roadway.

The incident impacted the morning commute on I-85 for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
