Toccoa Falls College named safest college in state

By AccessWDUN Staff

Toccoa Falls College has been named one of the five safest colleges in the country and the safest college in Georgia by the website WalletHub in its recently released 2020 College and University Ranking.

TFC was the only Georgia college selected.  Rounding out the top five in the country are: Hope International University (CA), Columbia International University (SC), Faulkner University (AL), Erskine College (SC), and Washington Adventist University (MD). According to the WalletHub report, these colleges offer "a safe and healthy environment with little or no campus crime, drugs, or alcohol usage."

Each year the website compares more than 1,000 higher-education institutions in the U.S. across 33 key measures.  The data set is grouped into seven catagories including, Student Selectivity, Cost and Financing, Faculty Resouces, Campus Safety, Campus Experience, Educational Outcomes, and Career Outcomes. The campus safety metrics are calculated using on-campus arrests and on-campus crime formulas.

Data used to create the 2020 College and University ranking were collected from the National Center for Education Statistics, the Council for Community and Economic Research, U.S. Department of Education, COLLEGEdata and PayScale. Its full methodology can be found on the web page with the full national rankings.

Earlier this year, Toccoa Falls College was ranked as the #4 Safest College Campus in Georgia by the website Niche in its 2020 Safest College Campuses in Georgia list.
