CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police have identified the male suspect charged in the attempted armed robbery at Taco Bell in Cleveland just before midnight Wednesday.

James Dennis McCormick, 27, of Lawrenceville is charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of or attempt of certain crimes, Police Chief John Foster said Thursday..

Armed with a .45-caliber handgun, McCormick allegedly attempted to rob the fast food eatery, located just off Appalachian Parkway, but was overpowered by employees, Foster said in a statement.

Specific details were not given, but McCormick received minor injuries Foster classified as “road rash” as he was overtaken by employees.

Cleveland police officers arrived and took custody of McCormick who, after being checked by medical personnel, was taken to the White County Jail, where he remained Thursday, Foster said.
