FLOWERY BRANCH — Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohmed Sanu was traded to the New England Patriots early Tuesday morning.
Sources around the NFL say the Falcons exchanged Sanu for a second-round draft pick in 2020.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Sanu, 30, is in his eighth season and has 33 receptions for 313 yards and one touchdown in 2019.
Through four seasons with the Falcons, Sanu has seen action in 53 games with 52 starts, recording 225 catches for 2,507 yards for an average of 11.1 yards per catch. As a Falcon, the eight-year pro has totaled 14 receiving touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, a 51-yarder to Julio Jones in 2017 and a five-yarder to Matt Ryan in 2018. This season, Sanu has totaled 33 receptions for 313 yards, including one touchdown in Week 3.
Following the trade, the Falcons are currently carrying five wide receivers – six-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Justin Hardy, Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus.
