RABBITTOWN — The East Hall softball team’s trip to the Elite Eight in Columbus comes as no surprise to anyone.

"This season has gone really well for us," senior pitcher Macy Banks said. "I think overall we just came out with the mentality that we were going to make it to Columbus no matter what it takes."

The fourth-ranked Vikings ravaged Region 7-3A, outscoring their opponents 148-20, and, in the playoffs, they are averaging 17 runs per game.

Overall, East Hall is best in the state on offense and tops in runs given up.

"Together, we have come a long way," junior shortstop Carley Cox said. "We've come together and really beat a lot of odds."

The Vikings are making the school's first-ever Class 3A Elite Eight on Thursday. They'll face Jefferson in the opening round of bracket play at 6 p.m..

"It's very special, this is such a rewarding experience," Banks said. "I've been so happy since we won on Wednesday. I'm extremely excited and looking forward to being in Columbus and get to experience it."
