Report: Islands' Zoller, assistant removed as coaches midseason

By AccessWDUN Staff

SAVANNAH — Published reports say Islands head football coach Robert Zoller and an unidentified assistant coach have been reassigned to other teaching duties and removed as coaches.

WSAV-TV in Savannah was the first to report the news of the coaches' reassignment. The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System made the announcement Monday and said no interim head coach had been named.

Also, several volunteer coaches are no longer part of the football program, the school district said.

Last week the Georgia High School Association voted to have Islands forfeit four of its five victories at the time for violation of undue influence and recruiting rules. Islands had been in second place in Region 3-3A before the forfeitures. Now, the Sharks sit at 2-5 overall, 2-3 in Region 3-3A and are in fifth place with official losses to three of the four teams in front of them and facing traditional powerhouse Benedictine on Friday night.
