Baldwin police, GBI investigating Sunday home invasion

Investigators believe an early-morning home invasion Sunday in Baldwin was isolated to the residence involved, said Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb.

“On Oct. 13, at approximately 6:45 a.m., officers with Baldwin Police Department responded to the 100 block of Spring Street in reference to a home invasion and theft,” Webb said in a written statement Monday. “Evidence suggests that the incident was isolated to this particular residence and there is no direct threat to the public at this time.”

Lee Arrendale State Prison K-9 Unit, Banks County Sheriff’s Office, Cornelia Police Department and the GBI assisted, according to Webb.

“We do ask that our citizens take precautions by making sure their windows and doors are locked,” Webb said.

Webb said the case was turned over the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 8 and that no further details of the ongoing investigation will be released at this time.

Spring Street runs between Shore Street and Walden Street, behind Baldwin Baptist Church.

Anyone with information about Sunday’s home invasion incident is asked to call Baldwin Police Department at (706) 776-5256.
