Stockton, Wildcats stay unbeaten in 8-2A after win over Banks County

TIGER — Gunner Stockton threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns and added another 86 yards rushing and three more scores to lead Rabun County to a 52-10 victory over Banks County Friday night in a battle of Region 8-2A unbeatens.
 
The Wildcats (6-0, 3-0 Region 8-2A) jumped on the Leopards (3-3, 21-) with 21 first quarter points and exploded for 24 in the second quarter as they led 45-3 at halftime.
 
Banks County’s only points in the opening 24 minutes came on a 38-yard field by Erwin Durmic early in the second quarter.
 
Braxton Hicks had six catches for 122 yards to lead the Rabun receiving corp with Sam hauling in three catches for 54 yards and two TDs. Corey Keller and Tate Ramey each caught a touchdown pass for the Wildcats.
 
The Rabun County defense forced a pair of Banks County fumbles and turned the Leopards into a one-dimensional attack holding them to just 22 yards passing.
 
A running clock in the second half shortened the game for both offenses. Chandler Payne scored the Leopards’ only touchdown on a 4-yard run with just over four minutes left.

Banks County will play host to Union County next week while the Wildcats will travel to Elbert County, both in key Region 8-2A tilts.
