After a three-day qualifying period, just one candidate has submitted paperwork to run for a vacant city council post in Lula.
Matthew Hamby is the sole candidate to sign up for the March 19 special election, according to City Clerk Rosemary Totty.
Totty said it is possible there will be no need for an election once city officials determine if Hamby meets all requirements to hold the office.
Hamby qualified for Post 1 on Lula City Council. The office was vacated on August 3 by the sudden resignation of Vince Evans, who cited personal reasons for stepping down.
