Counselors were on the campus of Lumpkin County High School over the weekend and they will be back on campus Monday following the Saturday death of a student.
Lumpkin County High School Principal Billy Kirk released a letter to parents over the weekend, which was shared by the Lumpkin Sheriff's Office on Facebook, announcing the death of the junior at the high school.
The letter did not release circumstances surrounding the death.
Part of the letter read "...many people in the community will be affected by this news."
Kirk said a grief team would be available for students and community members from 2-4 p.m. Monday. His letter also encouraged parents to be ready to talk to their children about the incident.
