FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch clinched the Region 7-4A regular season girls softball title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming region tournament with 8-0 win in six innings over Blessed Trinity Friday night in a game that was rain delayed from Thursday.
The Lady Falcons (13-10, 11-1 Region 7-4A) earned the top seed in a tiebreaker over Marist.
Senior Alexis Nixon shined on Senior Night belting the first pitch she saw on the night for a two-run home run. But freshman Avery Thomas nearly upstaged the seniors blasting a pair of home runs -- the first two of her prep career -- while senior Alyssa Kimbrell picked up the win, scattering five hits and striking out seven.
The Region 7-AAAA Tournament will be held next week, starting Monday, with first round action at Flowery Branch.
