Late race pass gives Cory Hedgecock SAS victory at I-75

NIOTA, Tenn. - Cory Hedgecock took the lead away from Kenny Collins with four laps to go in Saturday night’s Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series at I-75 Raceway in Niota, Tennessee, and went on to score the victory.

The win was worth $4,000 to the Loudon, Tennessee driver.

Hedgecock started the feature from the third position, and was shuffled in and out of the top five all night long due to numerous restarts. Eventually, he drove to the second spot behind leader Collins.

When Collins was slowed by lapped traffic, Hedgecock pounced, moving underneath the leader and moving to the point.

Collins, from Colbert, Georgia, had to settle for second, his best ever series finish.

Jason Manley came home in third, with Joseph Faulkner in fourth Ryan Tims in fifth.

Joe Crabtree, Mitchell Childress, Mark Dodson, Dusty Carver and Eric Hickerson rounded out the top ten.

The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series is slated to return to action on October 5-6 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee.
