The weekend’s Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series races at a pair of Georgia speedways were appropriately came dominated by a pair of Peach State drivers.
Casey Roberts took home top honors on Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway in Pooler, Georgia. One night later, it was Brandon Overton scoring the win at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia.
On Friday night, Roberts, from Toccoa, Georgia, scored his first series of the season after battling Kyle Hardy for the lead. Once out front, Roberts drove to the victory on the 3/8-mile dirt track.
The win was worth a $4,000 paycheck for Roberts.
Hardy, who set a new track record in qualifying, finished in second, with Dewayne Kiefer in third, Bob Robertson in fourth and Kyle Van Sickle in fifth.
Ray McElhiney, Jay Scott, Mark Dodson, Joseph Faulkner and Eric Hickerson rounded out the top ten.
On Saturday night, Brandon Overton edged out Casey Roberts for the victory at Screven Motor Speedway.
Overton, an Evans, Georgia native, held off Roberts during a late race battle to pick up his second career series win in his first series start of the season.
More importantly, Overton pocketed a $10,000 payday in the series’ first appearance at the speedway since 2008.
Roberts finished in second, with Chris Ferguson in third, Shannon Buckingham in fourth and Brent Dixon in fifth.
Zach Mitchell, Jeff Smith, Dennis Franklin, Brain Conner and Johnny Pursley rounded out the top ten.
