Patriot Day services back on track for 2018 in North Georgia

After Tropical Storm Irma forced the cancellation of events across Georgia in 2017, groups across the state have Patriot Day commemorations back on the calendar this year.

Patriot Day is observed each September 11 as a way to remember those who lost their lives in the terror attacks on America on that date in 2001.

Local government, emergency management and law enforcement plan to join together with community members in solemn ceremonies all over North Georgia.

Below is a list of public ceremonies in the region:

DAWSON COUNTY

Fire Station 1 in Dawsonville at 8:35 a.m.
Dawson County Emergency Services will host its annual Patriot Day Service at 393 Memory Lane, Dawsonville.

GAINESVILLE/HALL COUNTY

Roosevelt Square in downtown Gainesville at 9:45 a.m.
