Property tax increase expected in Union County

Homeowners in Union County could see an increase in property taxes soon.
 
County leaders announced plans to increase property taxes by 14.9% percent over the rollback milage rate.
 
This would put the milage rate at 6.626 mils.
 
Three public hearings will be held at the Union County Courthouse to discuss the matter.
 
The first will be Tuesday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m., the second later that same day at 6:00 p.m. and they scheduled the third for Tuesday, September 4th at 4:30 p.m.
 
County commissioners will vote in the new rate during a called meeting September 4th at 5:00 p.m.
