HOSCHTON — Lowndes County scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to break a tie and then held on to beat Buford 8-6 Saturday at Mill Creek High School in the Hawk/Bulldog tournament.
The Lady Wolves (4-4) battled back four separate times to tie the game, including plating two runs in the bottom of the fifth. They had the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the sixth but Abbie Perkins and Katie Perkins were struck out to end the game.
Sophomore Riley Reese (1-1) took the loss in relief tossing 1 2/3 innings surrendering two runs on two hits and two walks.
Senior Kelly Paulson had three hits and an RBI while Abbi Perkins had two hits and two RBI for Buford. Katie Perkins had two hits and one RBI for the Lady Wolves.
Buford next will travel to Brookwood on Tuesday in a non-region game.
