Softball: North Hall, East Hall, Branch all take region wins

GAINESVILLE — North Hall knocked off Cherokee Bluff 6-1 Thursday in both teams' Region 7-3A opener.

The Lady Trojans (3-3, 1-0 Region 7-3A) got things moving in the first inning, when Kendyl Chase stroked a RBI triple for a 1-0 lead. North Hall, which finished with seven hits, added four runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a RBI hit from Hannah Payne and a home run by Kelsey Garland.

Chase earned the win for the Lady Trojans going seven innings allowing one run on four hits and striking out seven. 

North Hall next will travel Friday to Hogg Mountain Park to play Forsyth Central in the Hawk-Dawg Classic in Flowery Branch.

Cherokee Bluff (0-4, 0-1) will play host to West Hall on Saturday in a non-region battle.

 

EAST HALL 12,
DAWSON COUNTY 7

Staying in Region 7-3A, Kaitlyn Daniel belted a pair home runs and collected 6 RBI on the day to lead the Lady Vikings to the win in both teams' region openers in Dawsonville.

Daniel finished with three hits, including a grand slam in the second and a solo home run in the seventh.

East Hall (2-2, 1-0 Region 7-3A) plated a run in the first inning on a Macy Banks single and blew the game open in the second. The Lady Vikings scored six times in the frame on RBI hits by Carley Cox, Abigail Brown, and capped by Daniel's slam. Brown added a solo home run in the fourth for East Hall.

Dawson County answered back with four runs in the fifth inning but could not get closer. Olivia Martinez, Tori Martin, and Brea Crane each had RBI hits in the inning for the Lady Tigers (2-4, 0-1).

Banks snagged the complete-game win for the Lady Vikings surrendering seven runs on 10 hits while fanning nine.

Maggie Schandera took the loss for Dawson County yielding 12 runs on 14 hits, striking out two, and walking zero in seven innings.

 

FLOWERY BRANCH 10,
WHITE COUNTY 4

Flowery Branch exploded for a 9-run sixth inning to erase a White County lead en route to a Region 7-4A win.
 
Lady Falcons (3-1, 2-0 Region 7-4A) trailed 4-1 after the fifth inning. White County (2-3, 0-2) scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth sandwiched around a Flowery Branch run in the fourth on a RBI triple by Valerie Eder.
 
In the big inning Flowery Branch sent 13 batters to the plate, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Alexis Nixon.
