New scholarship for registered nursing established at North Georgia Tech in Blairsville

The North Georgia Technical College Foundation has announced a new scholarship to benefit Associate of Science in Nursing students attending the Blairsville campus.

The Charles Maynard/Opal and Barney Word Memorial Registered Nursing Endowed Scholarship has been established by Brenda Maynard in memory of her late husband and parents.  The $25,000 scholarship will fund $1,000 annually to a student chosen from applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Towns, Union (GA) or Clay (NC) Counties
  • Complete an application for State and Federal Financial Assistance (FAFSA)
  • Have an unmet financial need
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
  • Complete the NGTC Foundation Scholarship Application
  • Submit a recommendation from an advisor, instructor or employer

The deadline for submitting an application is Thursday, November 15, 2018 for the Spring Semester beginning in January 2019.
