Georgia's net tax collections rose for the first month of Fiscal Year 2019, said Gov. Nathan Deal in an announcement Monday morning.
For July, tax collections totaled nearly $1.78 billion, up 3.5-percent from July 2017, while gross tax revenues rose 6-percent to $2.41 billion, according to numbers released by Deal's office.
Individual income tax collections also rose for the month, up 4.1-percent to $897.1 million, although individual income tax refunds sharply rose, up 34.4-percent to $29.6 million.
It also appears that more Georgians are spending the money they're earning, as sales and use tax collections increased $66.2 million, or just short of 7-percent.
