*A University of North Georgia alumnus who leads a group seeking to improve public education at all levels will be the keynote speaker for this year ’s summer commencement ceremony at UNG Aug. 3 on the Dahlonega campus. Dr. Stephen Pruitt took over earlier this month as president of the Atlanta-based Southern Regional Education Board.
*Forsyth County Parks & Recreation will begin accepting registrations for fall baseball and softball on Monday, July 23, and ending Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 5 p.m. Leagues are offered for boys and girls ages 4 (by Sept. 1, 2018) through 17.

*The White County Republican Party will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 16. State Senator Steve Gooch will be the special guest. The meeting will be held in the Nix Student Center on the campus of Truett McConnell University in Cleveland.
