Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School broke ground recently on a new Community Dining Hall that will serve students, faculty and the community starting next spring.
The 15,500 square-foot facility will seat 475 and will also feature a foyer, boardroom, dining room, serving area, and a modernized and energy-efficient kitchen, according to a press release from the school. It will incorporate a variety of seating options, including a large outdoor patio and space for hosting on-campus events for students, community groups, and alumni gatherings.
School officials say it is fully-funded by private gifts. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School launched the “Share our Table” campaign for the project last fall, exceeding the $7 million goal. The campaign raised $7.23 million to fully meet obligations for the Community Dining Hall which includes a $1.2 million building endowment to support the future of the building. Additionally, $200,000 of the total raised will support the renovation of the Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hall, which was built in 1954, into a refurbished student center.
