The Hall County Commission is set to give final approval to the county's Fiscal Year 2019 budget when it meets Thursday.
No public hearing will be held, as county attorneys confirmed to the commission at its Monday work session that the county had fulfilled its legal obligations for public hearings. Instead, the budget items will be place on the commission's consent agenda to be voted on at the start of Thursday's meeting.
The overall budget is an increase of 10-percent over the previous years, but decreases the general fund by 6-percent. It also lowers the county's millage rate by 1.34 mills down to 5.36, but adds several new tax districts such as fire service and parks and leisure.
The commission had its first look at the budget at a public meeting on Thursday, June 22.
Rezoning items to be voted on Thursday
The county commission will also decide on several rezoning requests after it makes a final decision on the county's budget.
Among the items is a request from a couple looking to sell and detail boats out of a half-acre property on Browns Bridge Road next to Trudy Circle. One resident spoke against the request when it went before the Hall County Planning Commission on June 4 and one planning commissioner made an initial motion to recommend denial of the request. The planning commission ultimately recommended approval with a 3-2 vote.
Also on Thursday's agenda is a request from a couple looking to operate an equestrian center on just under six acres of land off of Davis Bridge Road. Kevin and Brenda Bater say they want to offer equestrian therapy to children.
Both requests will have public hearings before a final vote is made.
