SATURDAY EDITION: Around Northeast Georgia

*The Gainesville Board of Education and the Hall County Board of Education have each achieved the Georgia School Boards Association’s 2018 Exemplary School Board recognition. The program is designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership.

*Broad Street in Gainesville will be closed today from 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. from the entrance to the Hall County parking deck to Henry Ward Way as work continues on the county courthouse.

*Lanier Technical College's  Ammonia program will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year in its new Training Facility on Lanier Tech's new campus north of Gainesville.  It is the oldest and longest running hands-on ammonia training program in the country.

*Sam Buckles and Charles McDaniel have been hired by Forsyth County government to fill the newly created positions of environmental scientist manager and code enforcement officer respectively. Buckles most recently served as a municipal team manager for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division.  Buckles has been an environmental specialist with Georgia EPD.
