The Hall County Commission will have several public hearings on large-scale items when it meets for its Thursday voting session.
The largest is the second and final public hearing for a proposed Gainesville-Hall County land bank. To create the bank, the county will need to approve Thursday's second reading and have the Gainesville City Council approve it as well, creating an intergovernmental agreement.
The bank would create a small committee that would be jointly appointed by the county and city. That committee would have the ability to sell and manage properties within the bank that are deemed problematic. Officials say it's an effort to improve housing in the area.
The commission will also vote Thursday on a rezoning request that would allow for a more-than 50 acre soccer complex on Burton Circle near Barrett Road. The Hall County Planning Commission recommended denial of the request in May.
Also on the table is a special use that would allow for an equestrian center to operate on an 86 acre tract of land on Roy Parks Road in Talmo.
The Hall County Commission's voting session is schedule for 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
