Former longtime Hall County Tax Commissioner Keith Echols, 69, died Wednesday evening at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Echols was tax commissioner from 2001-to-2012.
As well as being the county tax commissioner, Echols was a Gainesville-based certified public accountant.
Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said Echols died of natural causes.
Current Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden spoke with AccessWDUN and said of Echols, "Although I didn't have the pleasure of working directly with Mr. Echols, I sincerely appreciate and respect the love, respect and help that he demostrated to our residents on a daily basis for 12 years. I admire him greatly and hope to carry on that legacy".
