Chattahoochee River rising as downtown Helen feels the effects of Alberto

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for White and Towns counties just before midnight Tuesday.

That warning, in effect until 10 a.m., states some locations that will experience flooding include Cleveland, Hiawassee, Helen, Unicoi State Park, Robertstown, Blue Mountain Shelter, Mossy Creek, Titus, Mountain Scene, Anna Ruby Falls, Macedonia, Leaf, Smithgall Woods Conservation Area, Sautee, and Qualatchee Lake.

Additional rainfall of two inches are possible in the warned area.

In downtown Helen, the Chattahoochee River is near flood stage and swelling.
