Jordan Poole outran the competition and Mother Nature to score the Modified Street feature win at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway in a night cut short by rain.
The Winder, Georgia driver held off a hard late charge from Shane Peppers to record the victory at the ¼ mile clay raceway.
Poole led the field to the green flag from the outside of row one, jumping to the lead ahead of Jennifer Everett. Behind him, the cars of Everett, Peppers and Aaron Criswell battled three-wide off of turn two for second. Everett would briefly hold the spot, but was overhauled by Criswell as the field raced off turn four.
Out front, Poole pulled out to about a ten car length advantage, while the pursuers again stacked up three wide off turn four, with Criswell managing to hold on to the spot. He would come under heavy fire from Everett, but managed to hold onto the position.
Poole’s advantage evaporated when Everett’s car slowed suddenly coming off the second turn, drawing the only caution flag of the event.
Back under green, Poole again jumped out to the lead, with Criswell and Peppers fighting for second behind him. With a few laps to go, Criswell would slip off of turn two, allowing Peppers to take the spot.
Over the closing laps, Peppers worked hard to try to close on the leader, but ran out of time as Poole took the win by about five car lengths.
Peppers had to settle for second, with Criswell third, Everett fourth and Bobby Boggus in fifth.
The only other feature to be completed was the Stock V8 race, where Mark Chancey took the win over Jeff Casper in second and Jr. Carter in third.
The rest of the feature events were victims of the rain, with Mother Nature washing out the rest of the racing card.
