By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Road work will shut down a bridge in White County for almost a month starting in June.

Crews will be rehabilitating the bridge of U.S. Highway 129 over the Tesnatee Creek just north of the Cleveland Bypass with work starting June 12. Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Katie Strickland said the work is expected to last 21 days. Crews will totally close the bridge during that time.

Those headed eastbound on 129 will be directed down Tesnatee Gap Valley Road to State Route 115, then up the Cleveland Bypass back to 129. The detour runs just over 4.5 miles.

The work on the $1 million project will be done by crews with Comanche of Georgia, LLC, which based in Alpharetta. The bridge is expected to be reopened on July 1.
