Alpharetta man drowns near Forsyth County boat dock

An Alpharetta man was pronounced dead early Sunday morning after he fell near a Forsyth County boat dock and never resurfaced late Saturday night.

Jalil Poorak, 59, fell into the water in the Gainesville area around 9:56 p.m., said Cpl. Doug Rainwater with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Poorak's adult son called 911, and dive teams were able to locate the elder Poorak's body in 25 feet of water shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

Poorak was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this point, there is no indication that foul play or alcohol were involved, said Rainwater, but the investigation is ongoing.
