RCHS teacher arrested for public drunkenness at prom

A Rabun County High School teacher has been released on bond after his arrest for public drunkenness at the school’s prom Saturday night.

John Deleano Kilby, 32, of Tiger was arrested at the Rabun County Civic Center in Clayton after a deputy sheriff and the principal reported locating an intoxicated teacher at the prom inside the facility.

“I saw his eyes were bloodshot and watery and I smelled a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person,” the responding Clayton police officer wrote in the incident report.

The officer wrote that Kilby blew a 0.124 on a field breath sample, and was placed under arrest for public drunkenness. He was taken to the Rabun County Detention Center, where he later posted bond.
