11-year-old injured in North Hall County dirt bike wreck

A Gainesville boy, 11, suffered serious injuries in a dirt bike accident Monday afternoon in North Hall County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The boy was navigating a curve on T. Martin Road around 6:45 p.m., while a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, pulling a utility trailer, was navigating the same corner in the opposite direction, according to Sgt. Auston Allen.

Both vehicles apparently swerved to avoid each other, but swerved in the same direction, causing the dirt bike's tire to collide with the trailer.

"Basically they swerved at each other, if you will, and the [dirt bike] hit the front of the trailer," said Allen.

The boy was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with a possible broken femur and shoulder, according to troopers. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening, said Allen.

No charges are expected in the case.

Due to the boy's age, and with no charges being filed, AccessWDUN is not reporting his name.
