Adopting a little yellow duck will help local kids and could win you thousands in prizes during the Annual Duck Derby put on by the Boys & Girls Club of Lanier.
Event Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator Chelsea Clark said this year's event also celebrates the organization's 20th anniversary with an all day event on May 5th. "We're going to have a family-friendly event from noon to 3:00 p.m.," Clark explains. "We're going to have some bounce houses, petting zoo, pony rides, food and we're also going to run our duck race at 2:30 p.m."
Prizes include a $10,000 grand prize, a $5,000 diamond ring, Chick-fil-A for a year, and several more.
Participants can buy one duck for $6, 6 ducks for $30, or 25 ducks for $125.00.
The Duck Derby starts at noon on May 5th at Clarks Bridge Park.
Clark said if you're planning to come to Duck Fest later that evening, "You can come to Duck Fest by land or by boat because there's a new community dock out at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park Venue."
Duck Fest begins at 6:00 p.m. and will feature food trucks, craft beers, and a concert.
