Study: Cleaning chemicals cause same damage as smoking 20 cigarettes per day

A new study shows exposure to household cleaning chemicals could be as dangerous to women as smoking 20 cigarettes every day.

According to a study in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the short-term damaging effects of common chemicals found in most cleaning supplies are becoming well documented.

In this most recent assesment, researchers say the 20 year long study examined the lung functions of men and women and found that once a week cleaning accelerated the lung damage in women. However, they did not receive the same results for the men in the study.

Since not cleaning isn't an option, scientists suggest you purchase supplies that are labeled as "allergy friendly" in order to reduce the number of damaging chemicals you are exposed to.
