DAWSONVILLE — Jefferson girls basketball coach Jason Gibson was approved Monday night to become the Dawson County Athletics Director once the current school year ends.
Gibson was approved by the Dawson County Board of Education on Monday and will take over for Grady Turner, who announced he will retire at the end of the school year.
Gibson led the Lady Dragons since the 2005 season and this past they finished 23-7 and won the Region 8-4A championship. They eventually lost to Henry County in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state tournament.
According to northgeorgiasportslink, Gibson will begin his duties in July replacing Todd Henry as an assistant principal and also taking over the AD responsibilities.
