UNG golf teams set to tee off at PBC Golf Championship

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The 2018 Peach Belt Conference men's and women's golf championship will tee off Friday, April 13, from the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. Flagler College will serve as the host as the PBC returns to the WGV for the third consecutive year. 

The tournament is a 54-hole championship with 18 holes scheduled each day, Friday through Sunday. The annual PBC Golf Championship Banquet will be held on Thursday, Apr. 12 prior to the tournament's opening round.

The UNG women are in the midst of their strongest season with top-five finishes in seven of their nine events. Ranked No. 30 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings, the Nighthawks have finished in the top four in their last four events with third place at both the Lady Cougar Classic and the Wingate Challenge. Sophomore Megan Sabol is the only PBC player with multiple wins on the season as she was the medalist at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational and the Lady Cougar Classic. A three-time PBC Player of the Week, she leads the PBC in stroke average and has eight top-10s in nine events. 

The North Georgia men won their first two events of the 2017-18 season and have finished no worse than seventh in any tournament with four results in the top three. The Nighthawks, ranked No. 71 in the Golfstat Relative Rankings, took back-to-back titles at the Achasta Kickoff Classic and the Full Moon BBQ Invite and were third at the Matt Dyas and Coastal Georgia Invitationals. Junior Logan Archer won both the Achasta Kickoff and the 78-player Southern Tide Classic.
