Falcons, S Kemal Ishmael agree to new deal

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with safety Kemal Ishmael.

The five-year safety out of Central Florida played a dual role as a safety and linebacker last season, playing in all 16 games, recording 22 total tackles, one sack and one pass defense. In 2016, he played in 13 games with four starts for the Falcons, posting 49 total tackles (29 solo) after seeing action at both safety and linebacker.

Ishmael got his start with the team when he was selected as the first of three seventh round (243rd overall) draft choices by Atlanta in 2013. He has played in 65 games – 20 starts – during his career, tallying 210 total tackles, 12 passes defensed, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
