Banks Crossing wreck claims lives of pedestrians

BANKS CROSSING — Two people died after being struck by a car on Ga. 15/U.S. 441 near Walmart at Banks Crossing Tuesday night.

The wreck was dispatched just after 8:30 p.m.

When emergency personnel arrived, they located two pedestrians who had been struck by a passenger car in the area across from Sonny’s BBQ.

One pedestrian died at the scene. A medical helicopter was called for the second, who died a short time later.

Ga. 15/U.S. 441 southbound was shut down for an extended period while emergency personnel performed their duties at the scene, and to allow the medical helicopter to land.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck.

No further details have been released.
