Perez leads UNG baseball to series win over Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. — Andres Perez hit 2-for-3 to lead the University of North Georgia baseball team to a 5-1 win over Francis Marion Saturday afternoon. The Nighthawks claim the regular season series over the Patriots with the win.

Perez got UNG on the board in the top of the first on his single to left that scored Chase Sudduth, giving the Nighthawks an early 1-0 lead.

The Patriots tied things up in the second on a double, but North Georgia took the lead again, this time for good, in the fifth inning on a Sudduth RBI single to center. 

North Georgia scored three more runs in the eighth, starting with a RBI single by Steven Tomlinson that was followed by a RBI triple from Jake Arnold. Arnold also scored on the play on a throwing error by the Patriots to bring the game to its final score.

NOTES
- Logan Burt (2-1) earned the win after throwing 4.1 innings of relief. He scattered just four hits and struck out two. Parker Morrison earned his sixth save of the year, throwing 2.2 innings of one-hit baseball.

- The Nighthawks have now won six straight and are 10-7 in league play.

- North Georgia has now won three straight series against FMU.
