(UPDATED) Soccer: Lakeview, Branch girls win; East Hall boys prevail; Johnson boys drop Buford

LILBURN — The Lakeview Girls soccer team notched a key, penalty shootout win over Providence Christian on Friday in Lilburn.  

Trailing 1-0 after conceding a penalty kick, the Lady Lions, turned up the pressure, outshooting Providence 10-3, including the game-tying goal from Meredith Tucker in regulation.

From there the game remained deadlocked until the shootout, where Tucker, Sadie Thrailkill, Jackie Allen  and Maddy Child each converted spot kicks. Shifting into goal Tucker then came up with the penultimate save, denying Providence's fourth attempt before Maddy Towles scored for Lakeview to seal the victory.

The Lady Lions were missing two defensive starters to injury,

Lakeview plays host to George Walton on Tuesday in Gainesville.


FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 8,
CLARKE CENTRAL 1

The Lady Falcons dominated for the win on Friday in Flowery Branch.

Larsyn Reid tallied four goals to pace the Branch, while Mckenzie Kent, Anna Grady, Ella Riley and Caroline Wysocki each scored one goal

The Lady Falcons (12-0, 4-0 Region 8-5A) play host to East Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The AAA #2 ranked East Hall Vikings boys soccer team took their season record to 8-2-1 (3-0 in Region 7-AAA) by defeating Lumpkin County 1-0 tonight in Dahlonega. Maury Ibarra scored the goal for the Vikings and Geizi Barrientos provided the assist. Oscar Rosas had 3 saves in goal on the night.


EAST HALL BOYS 1,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 0

The second-ranked Vikings (8-2-1, 3-0 Region 7-3) notched the shutout win on Friday in Dahlonega.

Maury Ibarra scored East Hall's lone goal, off an assist from Geizi Barrientos.

Oscar Rosas had 3 saves in goal on the night for the Vikings.

East Hall travels to Flowery Branch on Tuesday. The boys game starts the match-up at 5 p.m.


LUMPKIN COUNTY GIRLS 10,
EAST HALL 0

The Lady Vikings (0-9-2, 0-3 Region 7-3) fell on Friday in Dahlonega.

Chela Aviles had 6 saves in goal for East Hall.

East Hall travels to Flowery Branch on Tuesday


JOHNSON BOYS 5,
BUFORD 1

The fourth-ranked Knights rolled to their second straight 5-1 win in region play on Friday night at Buford.

Rigo Campa bagged a hat trick, scoring three goals, while Villanel Albarran and David Flores also scored in the win.

Cole Bowen and Jose Gomez produced assists.

Cooper Bowen and Isias Castaneda combined in goal for the Knights (8-2-1, 3-0 Region 8-5A).

Johnson travels to Peachtree Ridge on Tuesday.

The Wolves (4-8, 1-3) will look to bounce back on Tuesday at home versus Banks County.
