Gainesville police officer graduates from FBI academy

Andy Smith, a Gainesville police officer, is the police department's most recent graduate of the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia.

Lieutenant Smith was one of 253 law enforcement officers who graduated March 16. The 271st session of the program consisted of men and women from 48 states. Also included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 18 international counties, five military organizations and five federal civilian organizations.

The program offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agency.
