The city of Flowery Branch has seen three new residential developments approved by the city council in the past three months, but now a development is being proposed that could feature more homes than those three neighborhoods combined.
The "Connor Property", as it was referred to at the council's Thursday meeting, sits on a 109-acre tract between McEver Road, Lights Ferry Road and Gainesville Street and the plans for development shown to the council would feature over 300 single family detached homes.
No public comment was taken on the development and the public hearing is scheduled for the council's next meeting on March 15. City Councilman Fred Richards said he would like to see the developers make more of an effort to utilize the small lake in the property as well as discourage traffic from exiting onto Gainesville Street.
"I'd like to see if there's a way to get them out to Lights Ferry or out to that roundabout so they could get out to 985," Richards said.
A second reading for the development would come on April 19.
"We'll have more details later, but as we've been doing this year we're just letting (the council) see this ahead of time," City Planning Director Rich Atkinson said.
