Forsyth County Sheriff's Office investigators said the victim of a Wednesday morning traffic accident on Georgia 400 was a young woman from Cumming.

Cpl.. Doug Rainwater said in a press release that personnel from the both the sheriff's office and the Forsyth County Fire Department were dispatched at 6:43 a.m. to a location on Georgia 400 northbound just north of Majors Road.

"According to Deputy First Class Andy Ives, Traffic Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, 18 year-old Haley Marie Wood of Cumming, Ga. was pronounced deceased at the scene," Rainwater wrote.

He said the investigation shows that Wood's 2016 Honda Civic sedan was traveling north on Ga. 400 in the right lane approaching the Majors Road bridge. Wood lost control of the vehicle, struck the concrete median wall, traveled back across three lanes, exited the roadway and and then hit a tree.
