Murrayville man allegedly bit 2 children

A Murrayville man remained in the Hall County Jail Tuesday afternoon, accused of biting two children earlier this month, authorities said.

The alleged Feb. 12 incident happened on Brady Road off of Mount Vernon Road, according to Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware.

Shawn Robert Smith, 34, allegedly pulled the arm of a seven-year-old girl and bit her shoulder, leaving swelling and large visible marks, according to Ware.

Smith then allegedly bit a five-year-old boy on the boy's face, leaving a large visible red mark, according to authorities.  Ware said neither child required medical treatment.

"I do know that the children's mother was present when the deputies arrived, and I believe the grandmother was present as well."

Ware said Smith lived in the home and was also present when deputies arrived to the initial call.

"He was admitted for treatment, and there was a lapse of approximately two weeks before he could be arrested and admitted to the jail."

The arrest and booking came Monday.  Smith is charged with two counts of 1st degree cruelty to children.

"I don't know motive," Ware said.  "He was obviously very angry."
