By AccessWDUN

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Piedmont College women's basketball team was in playoff action early Saturday evening, taking down the Pride of Greensboro College 62-50.

It was a slow start for the semifinals with neither team putting up double digits in the opening quarter. Both teams struggled to find the nylon as they ended the first ten minutes tied at seven.

A pair of free throws would give the Pride a two-point advantage early in the second. Amari Price would answer with her own two points from the floor followed shortly by a long ball from Bridgette Kelly. Lakerra Lawson and Kelly would each knock down another three to help boost the Lady Lions ahead once again. PC would close out the second quarter leading 22-16.

The Lady Lions would come out of the break outscoring GC 9-2 in the opening three minutes of the second half. Piedmont was led in the third by JATASIA BAILEY who knocked down 13-points in the quarter with nine of them coming from beyond the arc. The Lady Lions would go into the fourth quarter leading 46-30.

Kelly would knock down a quarter-opening three to start off the scoring for the final 10:00 of the semifinal matchup. A late seven-point run from the Pride would close the gap to less than 10, but the Lady Lions would fight for five more points to take the contest 62-50.
